Rail excursions around Puget Sound

Mount Rainier Scenic Railroad

- What: 14-mile excursion from Elbe to Mineral Lake or to Eatonville.

- Where: Catch the train on state Route 7 in the heart of Elbe.

- When: Operates May 26 to end of September.

- Cost: $11.50 general admission, $10.50 for seniors, $8.50 for children.

Spirit of Washington Dinner Train

- What: Dinner served on vintage train running from Renton to Woodinville with stopover at Columbia vineyards.

- Where: Depot located at 4th and Burnett in downtown Renton.

- When: 6:30 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday, 5:30 p.m. Sundays, noon Saturdays and 11 a.m. Sundays.

- Cost: $59 porter seating, $69 dome car seating ($10 less for Saturday lunch and Sunday brunch). Reservations required.

Lake Whatcom Railway

- What: Scenic steam locomotive trip from Wickersham (on state Route 9) to Sedro-Woolley.

- Where: Former Northern Pacific depot at Wickersham, 10.5 miles north of Sedro-Woolley.

- When: 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. Tuesdays and Saturdays. Season varies, generally early July to late August.

- Cost: $10 adults, $5 children.

Chehalis-Centralia Railroad

- What: Steam excursions through the Chehalis River Valley to Milburn and Ruth.

- When: Operates Memorial Day through Labor Day with departures at 1 and 3 p.m. Saturday and Sunday with dinner train at 5 p.m. Saturdays.

- Where: Depot situated on Main Street, Chehalis, Interstate 5 Exit 77.

- Cost: Excursion, $8 adults, $5 children; dinner train, $11 adults, $9 children.
