Golf putting benefit event today

THE OLYMPIAN
A Goofy Putt-Putt Golf Tournament benefitting the Thurston County Food Bank is scheduled from noon to 6 p.m. day at the Prudential Cornerstone Realtors offices, 3825 Martin Way, No. 106, Olympia.

The $5 fee collected from participants will be donated to the food bank. The Prudential Corporation will match collected donations up to $1,000.

- CASINO BOXING: Chauncy "Baby Face" Welliver of Snoqualmie and Nigerian King Ipitan fight for the Northwest boxing Association's heavyweight championship Nov. 1 at the Lucky Eagle Casino near Rochester.

Welliver (15-1-2) and Ipitan (19-5-1) will square off in an eight-round bout.

Sebastian Valdez (20-4) will battle Calvin Odom (13-5) in the main event.

Portland's Reggie Davis (8-2) has been added to the card. He will take on Juan Carlos Garcia (3-1).

Boxing begins at 7 p.m.

Tickets are on sale at Ticketmaster, the casino (800-720-1788) and Twin Cities Fuller's stores in Centralia-Chehalis.
