Governor-elect update

Democrat Christine Gregoire plans to reappoint the state's adjutant general, Timothy Lowenberg, she said Wednesday.

Lowenberg has had the job of overseeing the state Army and Air National Guard units, as well as the state Emergency Management Division, since 1999. He also serves as chairman of the Homeland Security Committee for the Adjutants General Association of the United States.

Gregoire, a Democrat who served three terms as attorney general, says no one's job is secure in top state management and that everyone who directs an agency can reapply. However, she does plan to name new leaders for the Department of Social and Health Services, Labor and Industries and the Department of Community, Trade and Economic Development.

Gregoire has said she expects to announce other appointments by Monday.
