
Dusti Demarest was born and raised in Tacoma,
and has worked as an editor at The Olympian for seven
years. She is a graduate of Northwestern University in
Evanston, Ill., where she earned a degree in journalism.
Between college and returning to the Northwest, she worked as an education reporter at the Telegraph Herald in Dubuque, Iowa; an education and city/county government reporter at The Daily Herald in Wausau, Wis.; city editor at the Ypsilanti (Mich.) Press; and assistant metro editor for The Ann Arbor (Mich.) News.
She led news coverage that received Blethen Awards in 1995 and 2000. She also received a Best of Gannett award for a special section devoted to the 50th anniversary of the end of World War II.
