BY THE NUMBERS

- 0: The number of people who died as a result of injuries from the earthquake.

- 2.7: Magnitude of the earthquake's second aftershock at 6:23 a.m. March 1.

- 3.4: Magnitude of the quake's first aftershock at 1:10 a.m. March 1.

- 6.8: The magnitude of the quake that rocked Olympia and other parts of Western Washington at 10:54 a.m. Feb. 28.

- 11: The number of miles Olympia was from the quake's epicenter.

- 20: Number of buildings closed on Olympia's Capitol Campus for inspection and possible repairs.

- 70: The estimated number of feet that Topaz, a frightened dog fell after leaping out the fifth floor window of a Seattle apartment during the earthquake. The dog survived, probably thanks to bushes breaking its fall.

- 410: The estimated number of people injured statewide. Miraculously, no one died from earthquake injuries.

- 1949: The largest earthquake ever recorded in Western Washington. That magnitude-7.1 quake on April 13 killed eight people

- 10,000: The number of people who were temporarily out of work at their Capitol Campus jobs.

- 20,000: The estimated number of people killed during a January earthquake in India.

- $25 million: The amount of money President Bush has proposed to cut from the Federal Emergency Management Agency's Project Impact, designed to help communities prepare for disasters such as earthquakes.

- $2 billion: The damage estimate, which could climb even higher.
