State workers will strike in Thurston

THE OLYMPIAN

THURSTON COUNTY -- Rolling strikes by the Washington Federation of State Employees are set to return to Thurston County this morning, with picket lines planned at several sites in Chehalis and Grand Mound.

Union members who work at the Department of Transportation shop and at the Green Hill School juvenile rehabilitation facility will picket from noon to 6 p.m. The pickets will not be held at either of the facilities, but rather at a location in Chehalis the federation would not disclose Thursday.

Picketers from Maple Lane School will picket at the same time somewhere in Rochester.

The Thurston County picketers will be joined by federation members in Vancouver and in the Kelso/Longview area, where protests were planned by workers with the departments of Community Corrections, Labor and Industries, Social and Health Services, Agriculture and Employment Security.
