SEATTLE -- The Seattle Boat Show at the Shilshole Bay Marina continues through Sunday.

The 29th annual boat show features more than 150 boats in the water, 120 on the land and a 10,000-square-foot tent full of accessories.

The event, which began Wednesday, runs from noon to 8 p.m. today, from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday, and from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday. Tickets are $8 for adult, $4 for youths and children under 10 are free.

The show includes daily seminars by authors and experts, activities for children, music, food and a beer garden.

The event includes new, used, power, sail, fishing, water ski, inflatable and aluminum boats. For information, call (206) 634-0911.

- BOAT SAFETY MEETING: Safety is a subject important to all boaters, and it will be the subject of a public meeting Wednesday.

The Olympia Chapter of Trout Unlimited will present guest speaker Ed Teitzel of the U.S. Coast Guard Power Squadron, who will talk about boating safety.

The meeting begins at 7 p.m. -- preceded at 6:30 p.m. by liar's drift -- at the Columbian Hall, behind Olympic Boat Center, 6794 Martin Way.

The Coast Guard in July responded to 105 distress calls out of Westport. The yearly average is 170. The good fishing apparently has increased the boat traffic -- but not all of them are properly prepared.

For information, call (360) 943-2484.
