Ski lifts to run through summer

Originally published July 24, 2001

Here's a chance to get to the top of a mountain the easy way -- even if you are not a skier.

Two high-speed chairlifts will take visitors nearly 2,500 feet to the top of Crystal Mountain at 6,872 feet.

From here you can see Mount Rainier and Cascade and Olympic mountain peaks. Hikers and mountain bikers will pass through fields of wildflowers.

And visitors can get a look at some of the ski runs without snow.

Two chairlifts at Crystal Mountain will be running from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekends through Labor Day. Single rides are $15 for adults and $10 for children ages 5 to 10.

Mountain weather varies, and there may be snow on the ground.

A restaurant at the base will be open weekends. And lodging and outfitted horseback trips also are available.

For information, call 360-663-2265.
