Totten Inlet is described as one of the most important habitat areas for shorebirds among the inland waters of Washington in a new book published by Olympia-based Audubon Washington.
The inlet supports the largest flocks of shorebirds in south and central Puget Sound much of the year.
"Important Bird Areas of Washington" by Tim Cullinan (Audubon Washington, Olympia) describes 53 important bird areas in the state.
The 170-page book entices you with a cover painting by Ed Newbold and is available at most state libraries, Audubon chapter or free of charge by written request from Audubon, P.O. Box 462, Olympia, WA 98507.
