Pet dental care should begin when the animal is very young.
Consider: Puppies have 28 baby teeth by the time they're 4 months old; by 8 months, all 42 permanent teeth are in place. Kittens have 26 teeth when they're 4 months old and 30 when they become cats.
Here are the warning signs of periodontal disease in your pet:
-Persistent bad breath.
-Loss of appetite.
-Weight loss.
-Difficulty chewing food.
-Red, swollen or bleeding gums.
-Pawing at face or mouth.
-Loose or missing teeth.
-Tartar buildup around gum.
