State wants views on wildlife

THE OLYMPIAN

Originally published Friday, March 15, 2002

OLYMPIA -- Anyone with an opinion on how the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife should manage the state's wildlife over the next six years can make it known through an on-line survey on the department' Web site.

The survey, at www.wa.gov/wdfw/wlm/surveys/gamesurvey.htm, will help Fish and Wildlife develop a plan for conservation efforts and hunting seasons through 2008. The plan will outline long-term management strategies and funding priorities.

The survey culminates an effort, started in May, to seek public views in identifying wildlife management issues.

Survey results will be part of a plan that will be available for public comment this spring. The final plan would be adopted by the Fish and Wildlife Commission in August.
