Pet of the Week

Originally published Monday, April 1, 2002

Freckles the dog

Would you like an energetic dog for spring this year? Then hop in your car and come to the animal shelter to pick up dog No. 432, whose name is Freckles. I was found at DJ Murphy's on March 5. My age is 2 years, and I am a female Rottweiler and Chow mix.

My visitors, Rosalee and Ha-Young, came up with these descriptions of me. I have wiry fur that is black and tan on my slim body. My soft ears are midnight black, and my tail is always curled toward my back. You should see my wide, black and wet nose, my long legs and wide, tan paws.

I am very energetic. If you don't mind being kissed, I'm the dog for you! I'm also friendly with active kids that I can play and run with.

Please come adopt Freckles, the friendly doggie at the animal shelter, today. Waiting for you with lots of licks is the energetic dog found at DJ Murphy's. I would like a big back yard to run and play in with active children, topped with a cozy home as soon as possible.

Pet of the week is written by fourth-grade students from Janet Schloz's class at Tumwater Hill Elementary School. The students visit the Thurston County Animal Shelter at 3120 Martin Way in Olympia, 360-352-2510, each week.
