The Olympian's 72nd Annual Pet Parade
When:
Saturday,
Aug. 18, 2001
Parade
started at 10 a.m.
Judging
ended at 8:45 a.m.
Where:
Downtown
Olympia. Parade started at Heritage Park (5th & Water)
and ends at Sylvester Park.
What
it is:
More than 1,000 children and their pets - most dressed up
in costume - march in the traditional parade.
Trinkets
are given to youth spectators along the parade route. Each
participant also receives a ribbon and free ice cream donated
by the Olympia Downtown Association.
No entry forms required. Just bring your pet.
Or, come dressed as one in costume. Join the fun!

Rules:
1. Pet Parade is open to all youngsters 16 years of age and
younger.
2.
No motorized or battery operated vehicles are permitted in
the Pet Parade (except those assisting disabled persons)
3.
All animals must be under control at all times. We encourage
participants to bring water for their pets before and after
the parade and to pick up after their animals
4.
All judges' decisions on awarding prizes are final and prizes
must be collected by October 31, 2001.
5..
The Pet Parade is a fun event for children. Please no commercial
entries or politicking.
Animal
Services:
Animal Services will provide pet care stations for your pets,
including water and pooper-scooper baggies. Volunteers will
also have lots of information on pet care and pet adoption.
Look for them at Sylvester Park at the end of the Parade.
