MLK Day project seeks gardener volunteers
Don't miss your chance to join a garden project in honor of Martin Luther King Jr. Day.
Community Youth Services, the YMCA Earth Service Corps and Garden Raised Bounty -- known as GRUB -- will join in mulching, pruning and cleanup at the organic garden at Providence St. Francis House in Olympia.
GRUB, a local nonprofit organization, works with at-risk youths and senior citizens in the construction and maintenance of community gardens.
Some 30-plus residents of Providence St. Francis House, a low-income senior living facility, will join in the project.
Bring work clothes, gloves, rain gear and a snack. Lunch will be provided. Meet at the Capitol Rotunda at 8:30 a.m. Monday for breakfast and a kickoff ceremony. Work hours will run 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Contact Rochelle with the YMCA Earth Service Corps at 360-357-6609.
