Master Gardeners offer rides to flower show
The Thurston County Master Gardeners with Washington State University's Cooperative Extension still have seats open on their Feb. 7 bus to the Northwest Flower and Garden Show, which runs Feb. 6-10. A fees of $40 includes tickets to the show and a ride that leaves the extension office at 720 Sleater-Kinney Road behind Fred Meyer in Lacey at 7:45 a.m. and returns about 7:30 p.m. Call Keith at 360-786-5445, Ext. 7910, to prepay and reserve your seat.
Garden Club offers college scholarship
The Olympia Garden Club's scholarship committee is looking for applicants for its Scholastic Achievement Award of $1,000.
Students majoring in horticulture, landscape design, forestry or related subjects such as ecology or botany are eligible.
Applicants must be Thurston County residents and have completed one year of college and be currently enrolled in an accredited college in Washington.
Applicants should submit a scholastic report from high school, a college transcript, a recent photo, letters of recommendation from two professors with master's or doctorate degrees and a paragraph on your aspirations and why you merit the award.
