Seattle show features gardens, seminars

There's still time to catch two more days of the Northwest Flower and Garden Show from 9 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. today and from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday at the Washington State Convention Center in Seattle.

Take in 28 spectacular display gardens and catch a few of the many free seminars by experts amid 8 acres of gardenistic hedonism.

Tickets are $18 at the door.

Garden Club offers college scholarship

The Olympia Garden Club's scholarship committee is looking for applicants for its Scholastic Achievement Award of $1,000.

Students majoring in horticulture, landscape design, forestry or related subjects such as ecology or botany are eligible.

Applicants must be Thurston County residents and have completed one year of college and be currently enrolled in an accredited college in Washington.

Applicants should submit a scholastic report from high school, a college transcript, a recent photo, letters of recommendation from two professors with master's or doctorate degrees and a paragraph on your aspirations and why you merit the award.
