Learn to 'Naturescape' with native plants

The Native Plant Salvage Project of WSU Cooperative Extension, Stream Team and the Thurston Conservation District are sponsoring a free field class, "Naturescaping for Wildlife & Salmon," from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. April 6.

Participants will learn how to establish a low-maintenance landscape to protect salmon and water resources and to attract birds and butterflies to their yards.

Garden pros offer tips on waterwise gardening

Learn to grow a beautiful garden while protecting and conserving drinking water.

Olympia's Water Conservation Program presents a Waterwise Gardening series with classes from 7 to 9 p.m. for $5 each:

-"The Lazy Gardener" is Wednesday. Learn how to use less water, spend less money and do less work and still have a beautiful garden with Marianne Binetti, a gardening author and columnist.

-"Ciscoe's Secrets for Gardening Success" is March 26. Seattle University horticulturist Ciscoe Morris will offer his waterwise gardening tips as well as a question-and-answer session. Register for the classes by calling 360-753-8380.
