Wood chipper, crew available to groups

The city of Olympia is taking applications for Neighborhood Chipping Days, which provides a chipper and crew on selected Saturdays in April, May, June, September and October to gatherings of four or more households that use city garbage service.

Call the city at 360-753-8509 or fill out a registration form at 1401 Eastside St. S.E. Outside Olympia, call 360-754-4348.

Dwell salutes 'Nice Modernist' homes

Arguing that modernism does not need to be cold, stark and unfriendly, Dwell magazine has created the Nice Modernist Prize.

Beginning with the May/June issue, Dwell will award one prize per issue bestowed on an example of modern design that is innovative, humanistic and accessible.

Free class teaches proper lawn care
