Legislative Pages

Each year approximately 280 young people, ages 14 to 16, participate in the page program. A page school allows students to keep up their school work while learning about the Legislature. In addition, pages provide invaluable assistance to legislators by delivering messages to the floor of the House and Senate, and carrying documents to various locations on the Capitol Campus.

-Samuel Olson recently served as a page for one week. He was sponsored by Sen. Karen Fraser, D-Thurston County. Olson, 14, is the son of Michael and Vanessa Olson of Olympia. He is home-schooled and is in the ninth grade at North Thurston High School. Olson plays the trumpet in concert band and piano in jazz band. He is a member of the boys swim team and swims competitively with the Thurston Olympians Swim Club.

-Brad Ecklund recently served as a page for one week. He was sponsored by Sen. Jim Honeyford, R-Sunnyside. Ecklund, 14, is the son of David and Catherine Haag of Olympia. He is a student at Griffin Middle School and enjoys snowboarding, football, basketball, track, soccer, reading and hanging with friends.

- Katie Watson recently served as a page for one week. She was sponsored by Sen. Dan Swecker, R-Rochester. Watson, 14, is the daughter of Todd Watson and Pauline Reiber. She is a student at Rochester High School and enjoys volleyball, basketball, horses and hanging out with her friends.

- James Cole recently served as a page for one week. He was sponsored by Secretary of the Senate Tony Cook. Cole, 15, is the son of Michael Cole and Diana Beiran. He is in 10th grade at Yelm High School and enjoys football and snowboarding. He is interested in law and law enforcement.

-Miranda Rader recently served as a page for one week. She was sponsored by Rep. Sandra Romero, D-Olympia. Rader is the daughter of Marla Elliott and Dan Rader. She is in 10th grade at Capital High School.

-Ashleigh Bergh recently served as a page for one week. Bergh, 15, was sponsored by Sen. Dan Swecker, R-Rochester. Bergh is the daughter of William and Elizabeth Bergh of Tenino. She is a student at Tenino High School. She enjoys participating in 4-H and playing in the jazz band.

-Emily Chamberlain recently served as a page for one week. Chamberlain, 15, was sponsored by Sen. Dan Swecker, R-Rochester. She is the daughter of Ken Chamberlain and Victoria Pierson. She enjoys playing softball and volleyball.

-Adam Lasyone recently served as a page for one week. Lasyone, 15, was sponsored by Sen. Dan Swecker, R-Rochester. Lasyone is the son of Randy and Cheri Elliott of Rainier. He is interested in photography, woodworking and playing the saxophone.
