Legislative Pages

Originally published Tuesday, March 26, 2002

Each year approximately 280 young people between the ages of 14 and 16 participate in the page program. A page school allows students to keep up their school work while learning about the Legislature. In addition, pages provide invaluable assistance to legislators by delivering messages to the floor of the House and Senate, and carrying documents to various locations on the Capitol Campus.

Nadine Funchion recently served as a page for one week. She was sponsored by Sen. Karen Fraser, D-Thurston County. Funchion, 14, is schooled at home and is in the ninth-grade. She is the daughter of Michael and Debra Funchion of Olympia. She enjoys American history, kickboxing, piano, studying the Bible, working out, singing in the Olympia Youth Chorus and running.

Victoria Gudbranson recently served as a page for one week. She was sponsored by Sen. Karen Fraser, D-Thurston County. Gudbranson, 14, is in the ninth-grade at Harcourt Correspondence School. She is the daughter of Mark and Elizabeth Gudbranson of Olympia. She enjoys in-line skating, basketball, youth group, drama, kickboxing and spending time with friends.
