Padres, Jarvis quiet Mariners

PEORIA, Ariz. -- Opening day starter Kevin Jarvis allowed one run and three hits over five innings in his final spring tuneup to lead the San Diego Padres over the Seattle Mariners 4-1 Wednesday.
Jarvis (1-1) did not walk a batter and struck out one. Jarvis, who led the Padres with 12 wins last season, will start Monday at Arizona against Randy Johnson.
Ichiro Suzuki scored Seattle's run in the first after hitting a leadoff double. Mike Cameron had an RBI single.
Jamie Moyer (1-3) gave up four runs and eight hits in six innings.
D'Angelo Jimenez and Mark Kotsay opened the Padres' first with doubles and Bubba Trammell had an RBI single.
The Padres scored twice again in the sixth. Phil Nevin had an RBI double and Sean Burroughs had an RBI triple.
