ANAHEIM, Calif. -- Bret Boone hit a two-run homer, and John Olerud added a solo shot Monday night as the Seattle Mariners rallied for a 5-4 victory over the Anaheim Angels.

Reliever Shigetoshi Hasewaga (1-0), released by the Angels and signed by Seattle last winter, pitched 1 2-3 hitless innings against his former teammates, although his bases-loaded balk in the seventh forced in Anaheim's fourth run.

Kazuhiro Sasaki pitched a perfect ninth for his second save.

Ben Weber (1-1) gave up three runs and three hits in two-thirds of an inning as the Mariners rallied from a 4-2 deficit to go ahead 5-4 in the eighth.

Olerud led off the inning with his second homer, a shot over the wall in right-center off Weber. Ruben Sierra doubled and scored on Carlos Guillen's single to pull Seattle even at 4.

Guillen went to second on Dan Wilson's sacrifice bunt, moved to third on Ichiro Suzuki's single, then scored the go-ahead run on Jeff Cirillo's sacrifice fly.

Seattle starter Paul Abbott gave up four runs on seven hits in 6 1-3 innings. He walked three and struck out four.

Hasegawa, who replaced Abbott with two runners on, intentionally walked Garret Anderson with two outs, then was called for a balk that brought home the Angels' final run.

Anaheim starter Jarrod Washburn pitched 5 1-3 shutout innings and left with a 3-0 lead.

The Mariners pulled within one in the seventh, when Boone hit a two-out, two-run shot off Donne Wall for his second homer of the season.

Washburn scattered nine hits, walked two and struck out four. The Mariners threatened every inning but the first, but Washburn stranded seven Seattle runners.

He pitched his way out of a bases-loaded, no-out jam in the fifth after giving up a single to Wilson, a walk to Suzuki and a single to Cirillo.

The Angels' left-hander then struck out Boone on three pitches and got Edgar Martinez to bounce into a double play.

Orlando Palmeiro's RBI single gave Anaheim a 3-0 lead in the fourth. Bengie Molina's two-run double with two outs staked the Angels to a 2-0 lead in the second inning.
