Salmon season looks up
WESTPORT -- Salmon anglers on the Washington coast can look forward to a season nearly as good as last year.


South Sound salmon projects win funding
OLYMPIA -- More than $3.5 million in state and federal funds were awarded to 27 South Sound salmon recovery projects Friday by the state Salmon Recovery Funding Board.


Officials debate single forest pass
OLYMPIA -- Hikers heading into the national forests of the Olympic Peninsula or into the high country of Mount Rainier National Park might someday be able to do so with a single public land recreation pass.


Official protests after elk dies in Hanford Reach roundup
RICHLAND -- A Benton County commissioner said he will talk to fellow commissioners about legal action against the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service after an elk died in a roundup at the Hanford Reach National Monument.
