Books

Who doesn't like a good adventure story?

In "Alaska: Tales of Adventure from the Last Frontier," ($14.95, St. Martin's Griffin) editor Spike Walker has gathered an anthology of compelling stories by some of Alaska's best known explorers and writers.

Lewis Freedman follows the Iditarod sled dog race. Jack London describes the hardships of the 1897 gold rush.

Other contributors include John Muir, Washington Irving, Gary Paulsen and Walker himself. The stories range from the harrowing to the humorous.
