Group supports national park
PORT ANGELES -- A recently formed group hopes to draw members in support of Olympic National Park.
Friends of Olympic National Park was formed to preserve the park's "natural, cultural and recreational resources," and to "promote understanding of the park's ecological, educational, economic and recreational importance," the group's president, Brad Collins, said.
The group plans a general meeting in May or June.

Ancient Greeks believed Zeus used thunderbolts to punish the guilty.
In "Lightning Strikes: Staying Safe Under Stormy Skies" ($12.95, Mountaineers Books), Seattle television meteorologist Jeff Renner explodes that myth and others.
Renner also explains types of thunderstorms, how they form, the dangers they present and how to protect yourself.
In 144 pages, with an eight-page color insert, 50 illustrations and 10 maps, he offers practical strategies for anyone who spends time outdoors.
