Talks on the Mideast

- TUESDAY: South Sound resident John Van Eenwyk will talk about his February trip to the West Bank and Gaza in a talk titled "48 Hours of Bombing: How to Survive Gaza." Van Eenwyk, director of the Olympia-based International Trauma Treatment Program, will speak at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Traditions Fair Trade Cafe, 300 Fifth Ave. S.W., Olympia. Donations will be accepted.
- MAY 17: Mark Brodeck will discuss his experiences in Israel and the West Bank during a talk at 6:45 p.m. May 17 at United Churches, corner of 11th Avenue and Capitol Way, Olympia. The subject of the forum is "Islam and the West, Can We Get Along?"
- MAY 22: "Understanding the Israeli-Palestinian Conflict: Is Peace Possible?" will be the topic of a free public lecture at 7 p.m. May 22 at the Lacey Timberland Library, 500 College St. S.E. Steven Niva will be the speaker. Niva, who has lived and worked in the Middle East, teaches international politics and Middle East studies at The Evergreen State College.
