OLYMPIA -- A series of classes targeting sports skills for girls is offered through the Olympia Downtown YMCA.
Girls ages 8-12 can learn proper running, jumping, throwing and kicking techniques in sessions taught by YMCA youth sports director Kim Ames.
Classes are Tuesdays from 4:15 to 5 p.m.
The four-week sessions begin the weeks of Feb. 4, March 18, April 22 and May 20.
Costs are $15 for full Y members and $30 for basic members.

- GYMNASTS SCORE: Spencer Smith took first place in the all-around competition for his age group and Black Hills Gymnastics took team honors at the Great Northwestern Roundup in Kent last weekend.
Smith finished first in the Class VII competition for youngsters ages 8-9.
Black Hills results:
Class VII
6-7 year olds: William Hoza, second, all-around; Beau Bryan, eighth; Austin Roth, ninth.
8-9 year olds: Smith, first, all-around; Kendryck Pose, second; Kyle Farmer, fourth.
10 and over: Shane Cleveland, second, all-around.
Team: First place.
Class VI
7-9 years old: Dale Murphy, third, all-around; Aaron Gross, sixth; Drew Murphy, 22nd; Willy Shaughnessy, 25th.
10-11 years old: James Prietto, fifth, all-around; Steven Walker, 11th; Brandon White, 13th.
Team: Third place.
Class V: EJ Canavan, fifth, all-around; Payton Gonzales, sixth; Dylan Pleager-Brockway, seventh.
Team: Second place.
