Martin Luther King Jr. Day closures

Events

- The Thurston County Study Circles on Race will have a study circle at 10 a.m. today at Tumwater United Methodist Church, 1401 Lake Park Drive. Organizers ask that participants arrive by 9:45 a.m. so groups can be organized. - A free performance in honor of Martin Luther King Jr. will begin at 4 p.m. at The Washington Center for the Performing Arts, 512 Washington St. S.E., Olympia.

- The AmeriCorps Program is sponsoring a Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service. Volunteers will work at community projects. Kick-off will begin at 8:30 a.m. at the Capitol Rotunda. For more information, call Carolyn Benard at 360-943-0780, Ext. 159.

The Martin Luther King Jr. Day holiday today means changes in some schedules and services.

- Post offices will be closed.

- Banks and credit unions will be closed.

- Federal and state offices will be closed.

- County and city offices will be closed.

- State liquor stores will be closed.

- Driver and Motor Vehicle Services offices will be closed.

- State Lottery offices will be closed.

- Port of Olympia offices will be closed.

- The Evergreen State College, Saint Martin's College and South Puget Sound Community College will be closed.

- All Timberland Regional Library branches will be closed.

- Mason Transit will not provide bus service.

- Pierce Transit will provide regular weekday service. For information about service between Tacoma and Seattle, call 253-581-8000.

- Intercity Transit and Dial-A-Lift will provide regular service. For information on your route, call 360-786-1881 or go online to www.intercitytransit.com.

- The Olympian's customer service desk will be open. For circulation questions, call 360-754-5411.

- The city of Olympia will provide garbage collection services to its residential and commercial customers. For more information, call Olympia's waste management section at 360-753-8368.

- For households served by Pacific Disposal, regular garbage collection services will be provided. For information, call 360-923-0111. Joe's Refuse service will provide service to its residential and commercial customers. Call 360-736-5282 for information.

- The Thurston County Waste and Recovery Center will provide regular service. For more information, call 360-786-5494 or www.co.thurston.wa.us/wwm.

- Parking meters will be free.
