OLYMPIA -- The cause of death is still unknown for Chris Doszkocs, who was a junior at The Evergreen State College.
Doszkocs, 26, was found dead in his room on campus last week.
College police received a call about 10 a.m. Jan. 14.
"A friend came to visit him and discovered that he had died in his bed," said Steve Huntsberry, the director of Evergreen's Police Service.
"He called the police, an officer arrived and did CPR until medics arrived and took over."
It appeared that Doszkocs had died before the officer arrived.
"Short of hearsay, that's what we know," Huntsberry said.
An autopsy was performed, but the toxicology report will not be complete for another two to three weeks, according to Thurston County Coroner Judy Arnold.
"Right now, it's all in the hands of the coroner," said Stanley Bernstein, the director of college relations at Evergreen.
"He was a very funny guy. He was witty, caring, and he took care of his friends," said Jerusha Rone, a friend of Doszkocs.
"He has a lot of friends on campus."
Rone said she had known Doszkocs for about four months but got to know him well in that time.
Mike Segawa, the college's housing director, said Doszkocs' parents live on the East Coast -- one in Connecticut and one in Maryland.
Before transferring to Evergreen in the fall, Doszkocs had attended three other colleges: City College of San Francisco, Montgomery College in Missouri and Santa Barbara City College.
