Scheme gets Yelm man jail time, fine
A Yelm man who ran two businesses while collecting time-loss benefits from the state was sentenced Monday to 10 months in jail for four felonies.
Albert F. Albert, 62, pleaded guilty to four counts of providing false information for industrial insurance benefits, said Jim Powers, a deputy prosecuting attorney.
The judge ordered Albert to repay $74,679.44.
Albert began collecting benefits in 1994 for a back injury, Powers said.
He ran Giorgio's Coffee at 1008 Yelm Avenue, Yelm, from May 1997 to August 2000, and a Yelm restaurant called Giorgio's Sidedoor and Giorgio's Bistro for about a year starting in the summer of 1998, Powers said.
