ABC consolidates investigative unit

NEW YORK -- ABC has consolidated three separate divisions into an investigative news unit that will have about 15 staff members, the network said Tuesday.

Christopher Isham, senior producer on "World News Tonight," will lead the unit.

"World News Tonight" already had its own investigative unit. There were separate teams led by Brian Ross and another that concentrated on legal issues. Ross and Cynthia McFadden will be the new unit's chief reporters.

Chris Vlasto and Eric Avram will be the senior investigative producers.

It's part of an effort by ABC News President David Westin to consolidate efforts across the division. Isham said there would be no job cuts.

"By consolidating the resources, it gives you much more in the way of firepower," Isham said.
