Procession of the Species Classes

Olympian staff

Procession of the Species is Olympia's annual gathering of the young, old and everyone in between, who are invited to dress as an animal or element and cavort through downtown Olympia.

Only three rules apply: no written words, no live pets and no motorized vehicles.

This year the procession starts at 5:30 p.m. April 20 in downtown Olympia.

In the meantime, there will be a series of workshops at the Procession Community Art Studio at the old James Madison Elementary building on the corner of South Central Street and Eighth Avenue Southeast in Olympia.

Procession registration fee is two cans of food for the Thurston County Food Bank. Most art workshops charge a $5 donation fee. To join most musical bands or dance groups costs a $10 one-time donation fee. No one will be turned away for lack of funds. Donations benefit the Procession of the Species.

For more details, check the Web site: www.procession. org. Online registration for the Procession is available. Or call Earthbound Productions at 360-705-1087.
